The Imagine Peace Tower is a tower of light that emanates wisdom, healing and joy. It is a work of art dedicated to John Lennon from his widow, Yoko Ono and is located in Viðey an island off the coast of Reykjavík.

The monument is a tower of light, composed of a number of individual lights that join together to form a single beam and is visible from almost any point in Reykjavík. The tower symbolizes the couple’s continuing campaign for world peace with the words Imagine Peace written on the wall in 24 different languages.

The tower is lit every year and is visible from October 9th on John’s birthday until December 8th, the anniversary of his death. The tower will also illuminate from Winter Solstice (December 21st) until New Year (December 31st), the first week of spring and in tribute to Yoko Ono the city of Reykjavík lights the tower on her birthday February 18th.
