Description

Into the Glacier from Reykjavik is a unique full-day experience that takes you deep inside Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier. After an early departure from Reykjavik, you’ll travel through the dramatic landscapes of West Iceland before switching to a specially modified glacier vehicle for the final ascent onto the ice cap.

At the glacier, you’ll enter a man-made ice tunnel carved deep into the ancient ice. Inside, expert guides lead you through a network of tunnels and chambers, explaining how glaciers form, how the ice changes over time, and what life inside a glacier is really like. The ice you see here can be hundreds to thousands of years old.

This tour is suitable for all ages and requires no prior glacier experience. The ice cave is accessible year-round and offers a rare opportunity to explore the inside of a glacier in a safe and comfortable way. After exploring the ice tunnels, you’ll return across the glacier and head back to Reykjavik in the evening.
