Gyr Falcon and Geese on a cold and bright winter day

Yesterday was a cold and sunny day in South Iceland, and therefore perfect to go on a little birding trip. First, we went to Þykkvibær near the coast south of the town of Hella. It was around sunrise (10:50 AM). We were looking for Snow Goose seen there two days earlier. We did not have any luck so we went to the lake Holtsós further east.

There we found a group of Greylag Geese as well as Whopper Swans. We had some luck because there was a Gyr Falcon in the area as well and we heard there was a young Eagle there earlier that day but. The sun was setting so we headed back and the Eagle had to wait until another day.
