Hofsós is a small village in Skagafjörður fjord in the north part of Iceland, the village is one of the oldest trading port in Iceland, going back to the 16th century. The village has population around 200 people, mainly fishermen but also with connection to the agriculture in the surrounding area in Skagafjörður. Next town to the east is Siglufjörður about 60 kilometers away and Sauðárkrókur to the west about 36 kilometers. 

Vesturfarasetrið the Icelandic emigration center is located in Hofsós telling the story about Icelandic people moving from Iceland to Canada, United States and Brazil in the 19th century. Interesting story about poor people from Iceland in the search for better live. Hofsós has also one of the best swimming pool in Iceland, built in 2010, there is a great view over Skagafjörður fjord and to Drangey island from the pool.
