Description

The tour starts by bus from Patreksfjörður at 09:00, about 1 hour drive to Bjargtangar on Látrabjarg cliff. The local guide will take you on an unforgettable hiking tour of the area for 5-6 hours. We will walk along the edges of the cliff and enjoy the majestic Icelandic nature.

Látrabjarg is one of the most beautiful natural sites in Iceland, the largest seabird colony in the North Atlantic and marks the westernmost point in Europe. The cliff is the habitat of millions of seabirds that can be seen on the walk along the edge of the cliff, such as puffins, thorns, fulmars, guillemots and many more. Bird season is from the beginning of April to the end of July. Látrabjarg is said to be the best place in the world to photograph puffins because of how close you can get to them on the cliff.

On the way back to Patreksfjörður, we will make a stop at the Heritage Museum in Hnjótur. In this interesting museum we will learn how local people lived in the old days and examine their cultural values. Snacks are extra, but museum admission is included.
The walk is 5-6 hours, walking distance 14 km, elevation 200 meters.
