Description
Experience a varied and scenic horse riding tour through the geothermal landscapes above the village of Hveragerði in south Iceland. The ride follows excellent riding trails along the slopes of Mt. Reykjafjall, through a rare green forest and across colorful hills shaped by volcanic and geothermal activity.
During the ride, you will pass steaming hot springs and geothermal areas that expanded dramatically after an earthquake in 2008. The route continues across open plains and volcanic hills, offering wide views over the surrounding countryside. You will also pass the warm river Varmá, where geothermal water flows through green valleys with rising steam in the distance.
This tour is suitable for all levels of riding experience, from beginners to advanced riders. During the booking process, guests are asked about their riding experience so that the guides can select the most suitable horse for each participant. Riders of different experience levels ride together, and whenever possible, the group will experience the smooth and unique tölt of the Icelandic horse. For safety reasons, galloping is not part of this tour.
A short stop is made during the ride for light refreshments and to learn more about the Icelandic horse before riding back to the farm.
