Flúðir is a small village located inland in the centre of South Iceland between the town Selfoss and the Gullfoss waterfall. About 104 kilometres outside of Reykjavik the capital city of Iceland.

Flúðir is most famous for the geothermal pool called the Secret Lagoon it is an old swimming pool filled with geothermal water in natural environment. The village has a lot of greenhouses where they grow fruits and vegetables and it also has one of the biggest mushroom product company in Iceland. Flúðir is the right place to try out some Icelandic fruits and vegetables.

Flúðir is located on one of the most active earthquake areas of Iceland, between the two tectonic plates. There is a lot of geothermal hot spring around Flúðir and the nature is very peaceful and quiet wich makes this location perfect for people who like to have summer houses.

There is a good golf course in Flúðir, restaurants, good accommodation and other service. It is on the edge of the Golden Circle Route so both Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfall are close by. It is also possible to access the mountain road Kjökur going between the glaciers Langjökull and Hofsjökull to the north part of Iceland from Flúðir and Gullfoss waterfall in the summer.

Directions

From Reykjavík the drive to Flúðir is about 1 hour and 15 minutes (98 km). Take Ring Road nr. 1 towards the town Selfoss, drive through the town and then take road nr. 30 to Flúðir.
