Description

Discover South Iceland from the saddle of the friendly Icelandic horse, riding through open countryside where volcanic earth, mountain views and fresh coastal air set the scene.

The smooth tölt, compact strength and calm character of this remarkable breed make the experience as distinctly Icelandic as the landscape itself. Clear organisation and expert guidance make it easy to relax into the experience and enjoy every memorable moment.

Lunch changes with the winter calendar: smoked lamb is normally served in October–December and March–April, while the January–February midwinter menu draws on older Icelandic food traditions. A modern vegetarian alternative can be requested.

Can complete beginners join?

Many rides welcome first-time riders, with horses matched to experience where possible. Check the current booking requirements for your selected ride.

Will I get to try the Icelandic tölt?

The pace is chosen for the group, terrain and conditions. Your guide will introduce the riding style that is appropriate for the day.

What happens if the weather changes?

South Coast weather can move quickly. The stable follows its current safety policy and may adjust the route or schedule when conditions require it.
