Description

Hike into the wild mountains above Ísafjörður and ride a remote alpine lake on an imaginative full-day adventure combining Westfjords scenery, wakeboarding, water-skiing, kneeboarding and a wonderfully social small-group spirit.

Itinerary

1

Meet in Ísafjörður

Pack for a day beyond the road

Meet at the confirmed location, receive the day’s equipment and organise food, water and personal layers inside the shared backpacks. With a maximum group of four, preparation feels personal and the guide can match the plan to experience levels.

2

Scenic trailhead drive

From fjord town to mountain country

Travel by camper van from Ísafjörður towards the beginning of the hike, watching steep mountains and coastal scenery frame the journey. The guide introduces the route, wildlife and remote lake before the group sets out on foot.

3

Alpine lake hike

Earn the view one step at a time

Hike for roughly an hour across a moderately challenging Westfjords trail while sharing the equipment load. The approach is part of the adventure, with mountain air, birdlife and widening views making the hidden lake feel genuinely far from ordinary sightseeing routes.

4

Wakeboarding and water sports

Ride a private-feeling mountain playground

Help set up the specialised towing system, learn the technique on shore and take turns wakeboarding, water-skiing or kneeboarding across the lake. Beginners receive supportive coaching while waiting guests can explore nearby trails or use the supplied snorkelling equipment.

5

Hike out and Ísafjörður return

Finish with a real sense of achievement

Pack the equipment together and hike back through the highland scenery before returning by van to Ísafjörður. The combination of teamwork, mountain landscapes and exhilarating time on the water makes the day feel like a genuine Westfjords expedition.

Choose your lake, ride that wake and discover how thrilling a remote Westfjords mountain day can be.
