You spend time in Landmannalaugar with the option of a guided hike around the Laugahraun lava field and the colorful slopes near Brennisteinsalda, also known as the Sulphur Wave. If you prefer a gentler pace, you can enjoy a shorter walk and time near the natural geothermal pool.
Also known as Blahylur, Hnausapollur is a deep blue crater lake framed by red and dark volcanic slopes. It gives the day a powerful sense of Icelandic geology and is one of the most memorable viewpoints in the Fjallabak area.
Sigoldugljufur is the hidden canyon often called the Valley of Tears. Many small spring-fed waterfalls fall through mossy cliffs and colorful vegetation into clear blue water, creating a softer and more secret side of the Highlands.
A quiet highland waterfall tucked away near the Sigolduvirkjun area. It adds another layer to the day, with flowing water, lava surroundings and a peaceful contrast to the larger, busier waterfalls in South Iceland.
