Saddle up for a spirited three-hour ride through the wide, beautiful landscapes of Skagafjörður, one of Iceland’s most celebrated horse-breeding regions. This experience is designed for riders with previous experience who want more time in the saddle and the chance to enjoy the smooth Icelandic tölt across varied terrain.
Country tracks lead towards Reykjafoss, a powerful waterfall often called the “steaming falls”, before the route unfolds through shallow river crossings and the immense Héraðsvötn delta. Open skies, braided waterways and distant mountains create a wonderfully untamed North Iceland setting.
The terrain is particularly rewarding for exploring the different gaits of the Icelandic horse. Seasonal details add their own character: wetland birds gather in the delta and autumn can bring crowberries beside the trail.
Choose this ride if you are comfortable on horseback and want a genuinely immersive encounter with Icelandic horses, rivers and the grand scale of Skagafjörður.

- The minimum age is 8 years and the current rider weight limit is 110 kg / 240 lb.
- Please arrive 20 minutes before departure so the right horse and equipment can be prepared.
- Used riding clothes and boots brought into Iceland must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before use.
