Colman Domingo Is in Iceland

Actor, writer and producer Colman Domingo is in Iceland, and his latest social-media updates have offered followers a colourful glimpse of Reykjavík and the harbour.

Domingo has shared scenes from the capital, including the sloping streets and bright houses of the city centre, as well as a playful harbour portrait in a pale pink Icelandic shell jacket. The photographs have the easy, spontaneous feel of a visitor enjoying the city between commitments.

A Reykjavík walk with plenty of colour

One of the pleasures of central Reykjavík is how quickly the scenery changes. A short walk can move from corrugated houses and independent shops to the Old Harbour, fishing vessels and broad views across Faxaflói Bay. Domingo’s photos capture exactly that mix: compact streets, bold colours and the feeling that the sea is never far away.

He also stopped at Kirsuberjatréð on Vesturgata, a cooperative design shop known for work by Icelandic artists and designers, where he met artist Dísa Jóhannsdóttir. It is the kind of small local stop that can turn a city-centre walk into something much more personal.

Dressed for Iceland

Domingo’s pink 66°North shell was made for the setting. Reykjavík weather can move from calm to wind and rain remarkably quickly, even when the sky looks promising, so a waterproof outer layer is useful in every season. Bright colour is optional, but it certainly photographs well against the harbour.

A familiar face on screen

Domingo stars alongside Tina Fey in Netflix's The Four Seasons. Filming for the third season had recently taken place in New Mexico, but no official reason for his Iceland visit has been confirmed. The series follows a long-standing group of friends through changing relationships, holidays and the small tensions that can reshape a familiar circle.

The acclaimed performer is also known for Euphoria, Rustin, Sing Sing and The Color Purple. His Iceland updates give fans a lighter glimpse of his travels: not a red carpet, but wet pavement, harbour air and a very good jacket.

Follow the same Reykjavík route

Visitors can easily build a relaxed walk around the same ingredients. Start among the shops and cafés of Vesturgata, continue downhill to the Old Harbour and leave time for a museum, a warm drink or a whale-watching departure. Comfortable shoes and a windproof layer make the route enjoyable even when the forecast changes.
