Netflix’s The Four Seasons Is Filming in Iceland
Netflix’s hit comedy The Four Seasons is filming its third season in Iceland, with production activity visible around Reykjavík and Tina Fey making an unexpected appearance in the capital.
Crews were at work in central Reykjavík on 25 September, adding another major international production to Iceland’s busy screen calendar. The Iceland scenes follow filming for the new season in New Mexico.
Filming across Reykjavík
Production activity has been reported at Mokka on Skólavörðustígur and Bar 22 on Klapparstígur, while cameras were also rolling at Krónan in Flatahraun in Hafnarfjörður the previous day. Other locations around the capital area are also expected to feature.
Details of the Iceland storyline are still under wraps, but the choice of city-centre cafés, bars and everyday neighbourhood locations suggests Reykjavík will be more than a distant backdrop.
Tina Fey makes an unexpected appearance
Fey was also spotted at a book launch at Forlagið on Fiskislóð in Grandi on 24 September. The event celebrated Matargatið, a new book by Gunnar Theodór Eggertsson and Linn Janssen. Her quiet visit surprised guests and offered a rare off-set sighting of one of the show’s creators and stars.
Colman Domingo had already been exploring the city
Fey is not the only cast member seen in Iceland this week. Colman Domingo shared colourful photos from Reykjavík and the harbour, including stops along Vesturgata and a memorable pink Icelandic shell jacket.
What is The Four Seasons?
The Netflix comedy-drama follows a long-standing group of friends as relationships, holidays and familiar routines begin to shift. The series was created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, and its ensemble cast includes Fey, Colman Domingo, Steve Carell, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Marco Calvani and Erika Henningsen.
Netflix confirmed earlier this week that production had begun on season three. No release date or detailed plot information for the Iceland episodes has yet been announced.
